El Paso County Caucus and Assembly Meetings

The Precinct is Colorado’s smallest political division. Both major parties, by law, must hold statewide Precinct
Caucuses in even-numbered years, prior to the Primary Election. Precinct Caucus attendees are “We the People”
who choose local party leadership and assembly delegates for selecting primary election candidates. Party leadership
and elected officials get their start with the support of people who attend their neighborhood Precinct Caucus.
EVERY registered Republican has the opportunity to participate, they just have to show up!
Main Purposes of Caucus:
1. Elect Precinct Committee Persons (aka. Precinct Leaders)
2. Elect Delegates & Alternates to the respective Assembly meeting for County, State, Congressional, Judicial, and
National (only in Presidential election years) races
